Michael Fenn agrees to assist with stadium site evaluation
Hamilton, ON – Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger and City Manager Chris Murray are pleased to announce that Michael Fenn – who facilitated discussions on the location for a Pan Am Games stadium between Hamilton and the Tiger-Cats – has agreed to act in an advisory capacity during the two-track stadium site evaluation process recommended in his report.
The site evaluation process, which will be conducted by city staff and overseen by an advisory committee of Council members and others, is to be concluded by early August. City council is committed to making a decision by August 12th on whether the West Harbour or East Mountain will be the site of the 2015 Pan Am Games stadium.
To allow staff to complete the necessary work within the tight timeline, the site evaluation process, much like the just completed facilitation process, will be conducted in confidence.
“There will not be updates or progress reports between now and the time the evaluation is ready to be presented to Council in August,” said Fenn. “We have a lot of work to do between now and then and it’s important that it be done diligently, swiftly and well,” he concluded.
Mayor Eisenberger welcomed Fenn’s continued involvement, saying, “Mr. Fenn’s facilitation work was highly valued and respected by both the City and the Tiger-Cats, and we look forward to his continued leadership on the site evaluation process.”
