Mayor's Jobs Prosperity Collaborative

The Jobs-Prosperity Collaborative (JPC) was recently established thanks to the leadership of Mayor Fred Eisenberger who has worked alongside the City's Planning and Economic Development Department and his Council colleagues in the development of terms of reference, structure and membership of an Economic Development Advisory Committee. The JPC, formerly known as the Hamilton Civic Coalition will make up the committee along with Mayor Eisenberger, Ward 6 Councillor Tom Jackson, and the Chair of the Economic Development and Planning Committee.

The main functions of the JPC include working on a number of initiatives including:

  • Advising Hamilton City Council on any referred matters
  • Business attraction, retention and marketing programs and activities
  • Service / Commercial office section attraction
  • Manufacturing retention and attraction
  • Competitiveness issues, policy and programs; providing leadership on local business partnership initiatives

Mayor Eisenberger's vision of the JPC has led to the creation of a working partnership with the leaders and "do-ers" throughout the greater community. The collaborative brings together a diverse group of individuals leading Hamilton in municipal government, business, industry, education, health care, the arts, hospitality, social services, agriculture and new Canadians who believe in and support a new economic development strategy for our City.

All members of the JPC have been invited to attend the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Economic Summit May 1, 2008. This exciting event will feature internationally recognized speakers and experts in economic development.

Ambassador Program

Last fall, the JPC established a working group to develop a Hamilton Business Ambassadors Program. The official launch of this program is expected to happen after the Economic Summit in May. The JPC has been working closely with Mayor Eisenberger and City staff on this innovative program and will continue to involve the Mayor and Council and other senior staff in this new economic development initiative.
